Final 10 Top 20 Under 40 Named

The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce has revealed the final 10 of its top 20 young professionals and community builders under the age of 40.

The include a lawyer, a couple of business owners and an acupuncturist.

The final ten recipients were selected among close to sixty nominations and include:

“Dr. Darcie Weglo – Owner of Creekside Dynamic Health. Dr. Darcie Weglo, empowers people to be the best that they can be, supports the Women’s Transition House and the Vernon food bank and is focused on creating Vernon’s premier multidisciplinary health centre

“Robbie Donaldson – Vice President of Chambers Groups of Companies is highly motivated, carries a huge responsibility of overseeing close to 500 employees and has his eye on growth opportunities for the organization

“Ranvir Nahal- Owner of Sunterra Homes Ltd, a local to Vernonite with a passion for designing homes. Ranvir was the recipient in 2006 of the Okanagan Tommie award as a sole Proprietorship. In 2011 with his family, he started the Guru Nanak Foundation and have raised over a quarter of a million dollars for use locally including NONA the Cancer center in Vernon and the Upper Room Mission

“Pearl Scott-Marten – A local business woman, spatial designer and real property developer. She is the founder and director of Smoke & Powder Design Inc. and Underground beverages, co-Founder and director of the Naked Pig BBQ Ltd, Marten Brewing Co ltd and co-director of Aurora West Developments and co-founder and director of Marten Holdings ltd.

“Sarah Moorhouse – The Assistant Manager of Marketing and Promotions at Okanagan Restoration Services. She is currently on the Executive for JCI Vernon and past co-chair of the hospital gala. Sarah is passionate about her community and has volunteered as the team lead for The Coldest night of the year 2017, sat on the board for Winter carnival, Teens Count Too and Relay for life.

“Stephen Russell – Owner and operator of Roost Solar and currently Okanagan’s only NEBCEP certified installer. Stephen is active in the Rotary Club of Kalmalka and vice chair on the Okanagan Science centre board

“David Scarlatescu – Owner of The Sprouted Fig with a passion for sales and a love for collaborating with other local partners. David brings a fresh, youthful perspective to the downtown restaurant scene

“Katie Matheson – Owner of Spruce salon and she is passionate about education within the Aveda network. Katie is a lead Educator within the Aveda network and mentors’ other stylists throughout Western Canada. Through Aveda Canada, Spruce salon is partnered to support clean water and sanitation projects around the world

“Jenna Roze – Acupuncturist and owner of Red Bird Acupuncture Clinic, Jenna is an educator on Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese medicine. She created Wellness in the Park and teamed up with other practitioners to offer treatments by donation to help raise money for the Women’s Transition house and their Equine Assisted Healing programs.

“Krystin Kempton – A lawyer at Nixon Wenger LLP, with a general solicitor’s practice and growing clientele. Krystin is a self starter, involved in the community through the Canadian Women’s Bar Association Women’s Lawyers Forum mentorship program, on the Board for the Greater Vernon chamber of commerce, Director for North Okanagan Cycling Society ( NOCS) and a Director for the Downtown Vernon Association

They’ll join the first group of 10 at a special recognition event on Thursday.
