Snakes Stop Eagles

Vernon Vipers maintain their lead in the BCHL’s Interior Division with a 5 – 4 win over the Surrey Eagles on Sunday.

Surrey got on the board first when John Wesley scored his of four goals on the night in the first period.

Vipers came back early in the second to tie when Jagger Williamson converted a tanner Wishnowski pass.

Then Wesley scored back-to-back goals to give Surrey a 3 – 1 lead.

Buy the Vipers answered with two of their own by Jesse Lansdell and Brett Stapley to tie it up at 3 at the end of the 2nd frame.

The game remained tight until just past the 16 minute mark when Vipers Keyvan Mokhtari and Jordan Sandhu scored 2 goals 44 seconds apart to give the Vernon a 5 – 3 lead.

John Wesley brought the eagles to within one with his 4th goal at 19:45 of the period on a power play.

Ty Taylor went the distance in the net for the Vipers making 20 saves off 24 shots.

Vernon’s next game is Friday in Penticton.
