A local product will wear the ‘C’ for the Vernon Vipers this season.

Fourth year forward Jagger Williamson has been named team captain.

“The Michigan Tech commit is a game shy of 150 in the BCHL and is coming off a career high 37 points,” says Vipers executive vice president Todd Miller.  “He wore an ‘A’ last season and was a key contributor to the leadership of the team alongside last years captain Riley Brandt. ”

Jimmy Lambert, Shane Kelly and Jesse Lansdell will serve as assistants.

Lambert, a 20 year old Saskatoon product, scored 19 goals last season.

“Lambert’s ability to make his teammates better is just one of the many attributes he brings to the table. His veteran presence and experience will allow him to help the talented group of younger players on the team.”

Miller says Kelly was an instrumental part of the team last season and has been rewarded with his hard work and dedication.

“On the ice, the Orchard Lake, Michigan product, had 3 goals and 9 assists. His defensive play was extremely solid and caught the attention of Air Force, where he will play next season.”

Lansdell joined the Vipers in October of last season and had an immediate impact.

“As he learned the Viper culture and structure, his play reflected that in his ability to score and defend. The 19 year old from Langley, has had an impressive start to the season with 4 points in 2 games, but also gaining the reputation for a selfless player with a half dozen blocked shots in those games.”

The Vipers are off to a 2-0 start as they play their next eight games on the road, with their next home game Oct. 7 vrs Penticton..

The Snakes are in Merritt and then Wenatchee this coming weekend.
