Hill On Final Leg Of Grueling Event
Vernon ultra athlete Shanda Hill is putting her body to the ultimate test as she takes part in the Deca Ultra triathlon in Switzerland.
Hill is among 16 competitors in the ‘continuous’ race which features a 38 kilometre swim, an 1,800 km bike ride, and a 422 km run.
Hill understandably sounded tired as she posted on an update on her race on Facebook Tuesday night.
“I started Wednesday night at 6 pm and did the 38 kilometre swim and came out 22 hours later, and then started the bike ride, and I am just finishing it now,” said Hill.
Hill is in second place among the women.
The 35 year old has been taking part in ultra distance events for several years, and says she thrives on the challenge.
Hill is the sister of Canadian snowboard cross champion Kevin Hill.
