City Sports Fields Closed

The rain the last few days has taken its toll on local sports fields.

The City of Vernon says due to saturated field conditions, they are closing several play fields immediately:

Marshall Field soccer fields will reopen on Wednesday, April 19;

Kin Race Track ball diamonds will reopen on Wednesday, April 19;

All other Vernon play fields are closed and will reopen on Saturday, April 15.

“The playing surfaces are exceptionally soft and can be easily damaged resulting in expensive repairs and long term field closures,” says a city news release.
