BC Gets First Win
The BC rink is looking to get on a win streak at the 2017 Tim Hortons Brier.
John Morris’s rink with Vernon’s Jim Cotter and Kelowna’s Tyrel Griffith and Rick Sawatsky lost their first two games, 9-7 to Northern Ontario’s Brad Jacobs, the 2014 Olympic gold medalist, on Saturday, and 5-3 to four time world champion Glenn Howard of Ontario Sunday.
The BC team bounced back with an 8-3 win over New Brunswick’s Mike Kennedy in Draw 4 at the men’s national championship in St John’s Newfoundland.
They next play Monday morning against 2-0 Jamie Murphy of Nova Scotia.
Cotter, who throws final rocks for the BC team, is making his 7th trip to the Brier.
Morris won the national title in 2015 while with Pat Simmons team from Edmonton.
Murphy’s Nova Scotia, Team Canada’s Kevin Koe of Edmonton, and Manitoba’s Mike McEwen are tied for first at 2-0.
