Oscar nominee Casey Affleck will be shooting part of a film in the Okanagan this month.

The “Manchester By The Sea” star will be in the Osoyoos area for the movie “Light of My Life,” which he also wrote, and is directing.

The film co-stars Anna Pniowsky (Wait Till Helen Comes, The Gabby Douglas Story), and is produced by Teddy Schwarzman (The Imitation Game, Gold, All Is Lost), whose production company, Black Bear Pictures, has been nominated for nine Academy Awards and seven Golden Globes.

Light of My Life will be shot on certain roads, wooded areas, and a house in and around Osoyoos.

While plot details are being kept under wraps, the independent film is a survival drama that follows a father and daughter who are in the woods while being hunted in a post-pandemic world.

Jon Summerland, Okanagan Film Commissioner, says they are pleased to have a A-Listers such as Casey Affleck and Black Bear Pictures choosing to shoot in the Okanagan.

“Once again the profile and potential of the region just keeps growing and growing,” says Summerland.

Schwarzman says they are honored to be bringing Light of My Life to Osoyoos.

“The Okanagan region’s character and landscape is incredibly unique, and a perfect fit for our film. We look to our shoot, and creating minimal disruption for the residents and neighbors of Osoyoos.”
