Public Input Wanted on School Calendars

The Vernon School District wants parent reaction to a pair of calendars it has drawn up for the 20-17-18 and 2018-19 school years.

Both are on their website and they want public reaction before they go back to the Board for a decision in March according to Chair Kelly Smith.

“Winter break starts quite near Christmas. This year folks had a lot of time before Christmas, but next year school will end on December 22nd.”

Smith says nothing is changed with regard to a two-week spring break.

“It turns out to be I think a 9-day break because of Good Friday and Easter Monday and things like that, so it turns out to be a two-week break.”

Parents can respond to the District web site directly with their input from now until mid-February.
