Students Score Big At Competition

Jan 25, 2017 | 1:53 PM

A pair of Vernon students attending Okanagan College have finished second in a major international business competition.

Jared Hubner and Anthony Peterson, third and fourth year Bachelor of Business Administration students reached the finals of the Management of Informations Systems inter-collegiate competition.

They tackled a problem about a hypothetical university looking to sell and distribute online learning materials, preventing content piracy and providing secure e-commerce transactions.

“Our solution was equal parts preparation and in-the-moment inspiration,” says Hubner. “We came up with an out-of-the-box answer, and I think we had the confidence to do that based on the experience we’ve gained in the classroom.”

“We have tremendous support from our coaches,” adds Peterson. “We came into the event feeling prepared thanks to them, and that was a huge factor in our success.”
