Truck destroyed by fire

A pickup truck and some commercial equipment in the back were destroyed by a fire in Vernon’s Okanagan Landing.

The truck was fully involved and starting to spread to landscaping when fire crews arrived on Melrose Court around 1:40 p.m.Tuesday.

“Once on scene, crews were able to knock down the fire quickly,” said Fire Chief David Lind. “The truck and the equipment will be a total loss; however, thanks to the hard work and expertise of the members on scene, the fire did not spread to a nearby structure.”

The cause is under investigation, but it’s not considered suspicious.
