A B.C.-based airline could soon be bringing it’s services to Vernon.

Cascadia Air had requested support from Vernon council to bring small commuter aircraft to the airport for daily flights to and from Vancouver.

In order to operate out of the Vernon Regional Airport, Cascadia needed the Airport Authority to write a letter of support to Transport Canada, who will then issue an Air Operating Certificate.

Additionally, council was directed to provide representatives of Cascadia Air with a letter of support.

During the Regular Meeting Monday, May 9, Vernon council voted unanimously in favour of writing letters of support to both Transport Canada and Cascadia.

The motion was passed without any discussion in the Council Chamber, but Mayor Victor Cumming said he had used the airline in the past and that “it was fantastic.”
