Prime Minister Justin Trudeau faced numerous questions about President Donald Trump, and when national forecasts of COVID-19 will be released, at his daily update on Saturday.

Earlier this week, Trump ordered U.S. based 3M to stop sending N95 medical masks to Canada and Latin America in order to ensure the U.S. supply.

Trudeau said Saturday Canadian and U.S. officials are still discussing the matter, adding Canada is getting “good response from them” on the issue.

The PM also said he would be talking to Trump about it “in the coming days.”

Trudeau said Canada will be receiving a shipment of “millions of masks” from a chartered flight from China in the next 48 hours.

He also said national models on how bad the COVID outbreak could get, and how long it could last, will be released in the coming days as the feds wait for all the provincial information.

Trudeau also released details of the $200 million for vulnerable Canadians announced earlier this week.

$40 million will go to emergency shelters for women and children fleeing violence and to sexual assault centres across the country, with $10 million for emergency shelters for Indigenous women and children.

“For other shelters, we’ve boosted funding for the Reaching Home program by $157 million dollars,” said Trudeau. “This will help buy things like physical barriers or rent new space to keep people safe.”

Trudeau urged all Canadians to take physical distancing “very seriously.”

“So this weekend, stay at home. Protect your loved ones and our frontline workers. Save lives.”
