Pickleball tournament draws over 300

Hundreds of participants have signed up for the Bannister Honda ‘Put your Paddle to the Medal’ Pickleball Tournament August 23 – 25 at the Okanagan Wealth Advisors Pickleball Complex at 6891 Okanagan Landing Road in Vernon.

Competition includes women’s doubles on Friday, mixed doubles on Saturday, and men’s doubles on Sunday with games starting at 8 a.m each day.

There are two age groups for the tournament (16 – 59 and 60+) and up to five different skill levels within each age group.

Over 300 people have registered for the tournament coming from across B.C. as well as from the U.S. and other Canadian provinces.

Pat Loehndorf, GM of Bannister Honda, said.

The Vernon Pickleball Association (VPA) is hosting the tournament and proceeds will go toward the ‘Light up the Courts’ fund.

The VPA is a non-profit society and has over 450 members who play year-round, both recreationally and competitively.

The Okanagan Wealth Advisors Pickleball Complex will be closed for public play from Thursday, August 22 to the end of Sunday, August 25.

The public is welcome to come to watch the competition and may want to bring folding chairs for seating.
